On July 11^th, Janet Kuypers was a featured reader at the Beach Poets (hosted by Cathleen Schandelmeier, with music host Peter C. Bartels) weekly show at Loyola Beach in Chicago. Because July 11^th 2010 is the 12 year anniversary of the date she was almost killed in a car accident, Kuypers opted to read and perform work relating to both death (from that accident) and a ‘rebirth’ after she survived. Without a microphone, she read not only poetry written both before and after the accident, but also interjected journal-style commentary about the accident and recovery. Two original songs on the beach with guitarist John Yotko started and ended this 20+ minute live feature.

    Beach Poets is held at 4 to 6 pm at Loyola beach (Greenleaf and the lake, just east of Sheridan Road and 4 blocks north of the Loyola el stop, near Heartland Cafe).
